Presiden Prabowo Subianto bercerita mengenai kedekatan Presiden Ke-2 Mesir Gamal Abdul Nasir dengan Presiden RI pertama Soekarno. Menurutnya kedua pemimpin negara ini memulai kedekatannya saat membangun gerakan non blok.
Prabowo bercerita ini di depan ribuan pelajar asal Indonesia di Universitas Al – Azhar, Kairo, Mesir, Rabu (18/12/2024).
Awalnya Prabowo mengatakan Mesir merupakan negara pertama yang mengakui kemerdekaan Indonesia saat masa penjajahan. Hingga negara lain baru itu mengakui kemerdekaan dan kedaulatan bangsa Indonesia.
“Kemudian dalam perjalanan pemimpin Mesir, waktu itu Presiden Gamal Abdul Nasir dan pemimpin Indonesia Presiden Soekarno, menjadi sangat dekat karena sama-sama menjadi pelopor dibangunnya gerakan non-blok, non-aligned movement yang ingin mempersatukan negara-negara berkembang, tidak mau ikut blok manapun, tidak mau ikut blok barat, tidak mau ikut blok timur, berada di tengah menghormati semua negara, semua bangsa, semua ras, itulah pendirian pemimpin-pemimpin kita waktu itu,” kata Prabowo.
Sehingga dalam sikapnya saat ini Prabowo juga mempertahankan untuk tidak terlibat dalam permusuhan negara manapun. Tidak terlibat dalam pakta-pakta militer dan terus selalu menganjurkan jalur perdamaian hingga musyawarah.
“Selalu menganjurkan jalan tengah, selalu menganjurkan kolaborasi, kerja sama, bukan konflik. Itu sikap yang saya canangkan dan itu yang saya jalankan, tidak hanya dalam politik luar negeri tapi juga dalam politik dalam negeri yang saya jalankan,” kata Prabowo.
