Persatuan Sepak Bola Seluruh Indonesia (PSSI) resmi mengakhiri kerja sama dengan Shin Tae-yong sebagai pelatih timnas Indonesia.
Untuk kandidat pelatih baru, Ketua Umum PSSI Erick Thohir belum menyebutkan namanya. Namun, ia membocorkan kandidat pelatih baru yang akan memenuhi target menuju Piala Dunia 2026 adalah juru taktik asal Belanda.
Hal ini dikatakan oleh Erick pada jumpa pers dalam tajuk “rencana baru terkait perkembangan timnas Indonesia” di Menara Danareksa, Jakarta, Senin.
“Beberapa nama yang sudah punya nama di dunia sepak bola tentu tak hanya mencari pekerjaan, mereka juga pasti ingin punya legacy untuk menjadi bagian sejarah Indonesia menuju Piala Dunia 2026,” kata Erick.
Erick mengatakan pelatih baru ini didapatkannya saat ia berkunjung ke Eropa pada akhir Desember 2024. Di sana, kata dia, ia menemukan tiga kandidat pelatih yang kemudian mengerucut ke satu nama.
Pria 54 tahun itu juga mengatakan bahwa pihaknya mengakhiri kerja sama dengan Shin Tae-yong dengan baik. Pelatih asal Korea Selatan tersebut menurutnya juga menerima keputusan ini dengan lapang dada.
“Hubungannya baik-baik, saya respect shin tae yong, tadi juga katanya nerima baik-baik. ada dinamika, tapi saya gak mau sebut,” tutur Erick.
Lebih lanjut, pelatih baru akan datang ke Indonesia pada Sabtu (11/1) malam. Nantinya, pelatih baru ini akan dikenalkan ke publik pada jumpa pers keesokan harinya Minggu (12/1).
Shin Tae-yong menjadi pelatih Indonesia sejak Desember 2019. Di bawah kepemimpinannya, tim Garuda dibawanya naik ke peringkat 127 dunia dari 173 dunia.
